Man Utd target Sean Longstaff and Ed Woodward

MANCHESTER UNITED will sign Sean Longstaff from Newcastle United but not until the last few days of the window, claims Red Devils transfer expert Mark Ogden

Longstaff has been a key target for Manchester United this summer.

The 21-year-old shone in the Newcastle Unitedside towards the end of last season before suffering a knee ligament injury in March which ended his campaign prematurely.

United value Longstaff at around £30million but Newcastle are claimed to want up to £50m for the academy graduate.

Ogden says there is no chance any team would pay £50m for the midfielder.

But he does think a deal will end up happening that sees Longstaff head to Old Trafford.

“I think they’ll still keep plugging away at that one,” Ogden said of the Longstaff deal on the Transfer Talk podcast.

“Newcastle have shown that they’ve got a few problems at the moment with the ownership, the manager change.

“Sean Longstaff is a player that has got potential

“He’s a Newcastle lad so it will be hard for Newcastle to let him go.

“But I think Newcastle tend to sell when the price is right.

“I think at the moment we’re just seeing negotiation tactics.

“Newcastle are holding out for £50m – they won’t get that, nobody will pay that for Sean Longstaff.

“But I think United at some point will get their man.

“But again I expect it to run into the last week of the window.”

Longstaff has made 11 career appearances for Newcastle, scoring two goals.
